NabeelAhmed

AI engineer and senior full-stack developer in Lahore. I build AI features that work on your own data — retrieval, tool calling, agents — alongside the web apps, mobile apps and in-app calling they sit in. I lead a small team on this for clients in the UAE, and I stay on it from the first commit to production.

About

Four years of shipping software that has to work every day: platforms with real users, real money and real phone calls going through them.

I'm an AI engineer and senior full-stack developer based in Lahore, Pakistan. I've built web and mobile products for teams in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the US.

Most of my days are spent in TypeScript. React and Next.js on the frontend, Node.js, Express and NestJS on the backend, MongoDB or PostgreSQL underneath, and React Native when the product needs to live on a phone. I've shipped a drag-and-drop app builder, an AI system that spots defects on factory conveyor belts, the frontend of a telehealth platform and property platforms running on AWS.

I care a lot about using the right amount of architecture. On one greenfield project my team wanted microservices from day one. We had no users yet and a small team, so I pushed for a modular monolith instead. We moved faster, and everyone came away knowing when each approach actually makes sense.

Selected work

Seven products I led or built, from realtime calling and AI assistants to a no-code app builder.

The AI See inspection screen: a gear with crack, chipped tooth, scratch and corrosion defects boxed by the model, beside a review list with confidence and severity for each.

AI See

Real-time defect detection on factory conveyor belts

AI, Computer vision, Industrial

Read the case study: AI See

No public link: it runs on-premises on the client's industrial machines, behind Tailscale VPN.

Cameras take photos of products moving along a conveyor belt, and a trained vision model checks each one to catch defects before anything ships. Every defect shows up live on the dashboard.

  • Built as independent microservices: file uploader, main backend, AI inspection, post-processor and frontend.
  • Camera service written in C++ feeding images straight into the pipeline.
  • React dashboard that surfaces defects the moment they're found.
  • Stores reviewers' feedback on each result for retraining, and runs on-premises on the client's machines behind Tailscale.

Built with React, NestJS, Microservices, C++, AI inspection

The RHK Properties marketplace home page with its property search.

RHK Properties

Real estate CRM and marketplace with in-app calling

Team lead, Web + iOS + Android, UAE

rhkproperties.com (opens in a new tab)Read the case study: RHK Properties

RHK Properties is a UAE platform for buying, selling and renting property, with a full CRM behind it for the agents. I led the team that built the web platform first and then the iOS and Android apps, and I own the architecture and deployments end to end.

  • Realtime WebRTC calling right inside the app, with SIP trunking through Telnyx and Etisalat and TURN/STUN for reliable connections.
  • Next.js frontend on top of NestJS microservices, containerized with Docker and running on Azure Kubernetes.
  • One backend serving the CRM, the agent side and both mobile apps.

Built with Next.js, React Native, NestJS, WebRTC, Docker, Azure AKS

The GA Universe low-code platform landing page.

GA Universe

A drag-and-drop platform for building full applications

Frontend architect, Low-code, Saudi Arabia

ga-universe.com (opens in a new tab)Read the case study: GA Universe

A low/no-code platform where people visually design and ship real applications without writing code. I architected the whole frontend and supervised two client projects built on top of it.

  • Angular with a reactive RxJS architecture that keeps the visual editor in sync in real time.
  • Builder engine and config-driven components that turn a user's layout into a working app.
  • Took two client projects from requirements all the way to handoff.

Built with Angular, RxJS, TypeScript, Low-code

The OWNRS website, with the owner app showing overdue rent, maintenance and portfolio value.

OWNRS UAE

An owner app with an AI assistant that knows your properties

AI, Mobile app, UAE

ownrs.ae (opens in a new tab)Read the case study: OWNRS UAE

OWNRS is part of the RHK family, built for property owners in the UAE to manage their properties from their phone. The part I'm proudest of is the AI assistant. Owners ask a question in plain words and get an answer based on their own data, not a generic guess.

  • Implemented the RAG pipeline that grounds every answer in the owner's real records, so the assistant cites their data instead of guessing.
  • Built on the Gemini API with an agentic workflow that decides which tools to call for each question.
  • Tool and function calling that lets the assistant pull live property data on the fly.

Built with React Native, NestJS, Gemini API, RAG, Function calling

The Oxford Management Consultancy portal home page and setup tracker.

OMC Portal

Corporate services portal for Oxford Management Consultancy

Team lead, Live with clients, UAE

omcuae.com (opens in a new tab)Read the case study: OMC Portal

A portal for companies setting up in the UAE, covering company registration, tax, visas and office setup. It's live and real clients use it every day. I led the build and set it up as a Turborepo monorepo with a Next.js frontend and one NestJS API.

  • Implemented authentication completely with Better Auth, with sessions shared across the site and the API subdomain.
  • Built VoIP calling into the portal.
  • Full lead pipeline with Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Zoho CRM integrations.

Built with Next.js, NestJS, Turborepo, Better Auth, PostgreSQL

Senior software engineer, Property management, South Africa

app.smartagent.digital (opens in a new tab)

A platform for property agents and agencies in South Africa to manage the properties they look after for owners and tenants: leases, rent collection, a tenant and landlord CRM and financial reports in one place. I owned it from the architecture to production.

  • Designed the relational database on Amazon RDS behind properties, leases, rent and commissions.
  • Hosted the whole platform on AWS, with documents and media stored in S3.
  • Integrated WhatsApp so agents can reach tenants and owners where they already are.

Built with Next.js, AWS, Amazon RDS, S3, WhatsApp API

The Zebra Doctor site showing its scheduling and no-show reduction features.

Zebra Doctor

Practice management and telehealth for clinics

Healthcare, Telehealth, Frontend

zebdoc.com/dev-2 (opens in a new tab)

A platform that helps clinics run their day, with online booking, appointment scheduling, telehealth and patient engagement all in one place.

  • Online booking and scheduling flows for both patients and staff.
  • Telehealth integration so appointments can happen over video.
  • Worked on the frontend as part of a larger team.

Built with React, Node.js, MySQL, AWS EC2

What I do most

AI engineering

Most AI features are a chat box wired to a model, and they guess. I build the part that makes them useful: retrieval over your own data, tools the model can actually call, and the guardrails that keep an agent inside the job it was given. Shipped in production, not a demo.

  • RAG pipelines over your documents and database, so every answer is grounded in your records and can cite where it came from.
  • Tool and function calling that lets an assistant read live data and take real actions — book the slot, update the record, start the workflow.
  • Agentic workflows that plan across several steps and know when to stop, hand off or ask a person.
  • Streaming chat UIs with structured output, so the interface renders real components instead of a wall of text.
  • Evals and tracing, because an AI feature nobody measures quietly gets worse.
  • Vercel AI SDK
  • LangChain.js
  • LangGraph.js
  • TanStack AI
  • Gemini API
  • OpenAI and Anthropic APIs
  • Vector search
  • MCP
Hiring for an AI feature? Here's how I work

Full-stack web and mobile apps

From an idea on paper to a live product. I build the frontend, the backend and the mobile app, and I deploy it too, so you're not juggling three different people to get one thing shipped.

  • Web apps, dashboards and portals in React and Next.js.
  • iOS and Android apps with React Native from a single codebase.
  • Node.js, Express or NestJS APIs with MongoDB or PostgreSQL, deployed on AWS, Azure or Vercel.

Realtime and calling

In-app voice calls, live chat and live dashboards, built to hold up on real-world networks.

  • WebRTC calling in web and mobile apps.
  • SIP trunking to connect app calls with real phone numbers.
  • WebSockets for chat, notifications and live data.

System design

Starting something new or outgrowing what you have? I'll help you pick the architecture that fits where you are today.

  • Architecture reviews and technical planning.
  • Honest monolith vs microservices decisions.
  • Auth, scaling and deployment setup done right.

Bug fixes and quick tasks

Something broken, slow or half finished? Send it over. No task is too small.

  • Bugs in React, Next.js, Node and NestJS apps.
  • Slow pages and failing deployments.
  • Small features and cleanup on existing code.

Ways we can work together

I've worked with teams in the US, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, so remote work and time zones aren't new to me.

Remote full-time
For companies hiring a senior engineer or team lead.
I join your team, take ownership of features end to end and help the people around me ship faster.
Part-time or contract
For teams that need extra hands for a few months.
A set number of hours each week on your product, working inside your tools, standups and sprints.
For agencies
For dev shops with more client work than their team can take.
White-label is fine: I work under your name, sign your NDA before kickoff and the code is your client's. Blocks of 20 to 40 hours a week, with 4 to 5 hours of overlap with the UK and EU, or US East mornings.
Freelance projects
For founders and businesses with a product to build.
Clear scope, milestones and regular demos, from the first screen to the final deploy.
Quick fixes
For one-off bugs and small tasks.
Tell me what's wrong and I'll give you a clear estimate before I touch anything.

How a project usually goes

  1. A free 15-minute call

We talk about what you need. No pressure and no sales pitch.

  2. A clear plan

You get the scope, timeline and cost in writing before any work starts.

  3. Build and demo

I work in short sprints and show you real progress along the way.

  4. Launch and support

We ship it, and I stick around to fix and improve things after.
