The product
RHK Properties is a UAE platform for buying, selling and renting property. Behind the public marketplace sits a full CRM that the agents work in every day.
It was the first product I led at AHK Solutions. We built the web platform first, then the iOS and Android apps, and the same product family later grew to include OWNRS UAE, an app for property owners. I own the architecture, delivery and deployments end to end.
Calling inside the app
I built realtime voice calling from scratch, so calls happen inside the app itself.
- WebRTC carries the audio between the web and mobile apps.
- SIP trunking through Telnyx and Etisalat connects app calls to ordinary phone numbers, so a call can reach someone who doesn't have the app.
- STUN and TURN servers keep calls connecting. STUN helps two devices find a direct route to each other, and TURN relays the audio when firewalls or carrier networks block a direct route.
- The calling backend runs as NestJS microservices on Azure Kubernetes.
One backend for every app
The Next.js frontend sits on top of NestJS microservices. One backend serves the CRM, the agent side and both mobile apps, so all of them work from the same data.
The services are containerized with Docker and run on Azure Kubernetes Service. The React Native apps share the same API as the web.
Leading the team
Beyond writing code, I set how the frontend and backend are structured, run code reviews and mentor the engineers on the team. I also handle deployments across Azure, AWS and Vercel.
